Art doesn’t have to choose between beauty and darkness. Sometimes the most interesting thing is the space in between.

Brittany’s work moves freely between painting, drawing, watercolor, figurative studies, still life, and darker experiments in color and form.

About Brittany

Emotion first. Rules second.

Brittany Yach is a DFW artist whose work is drawn to contrast: softness and intensity, beauty and unease, light and shadow. Chiaroscuro is a recurring influence, but her work is deliberately hard to pin to a single subject or medium.

Her studio practice is exploratory and instinctive. Finished paintings sit beside sketches, watercolor studies, figures, flowers, faces, and experiments that are allowed to become something unexpected.

The result is work that feels personal rather than overly polished — expressive, curious, and continually changing.

Inside the work

What keeps showing up

Not a rigid “style guide” — more like recurring ideas Brittany keeps returning to as the work evolves.

01

Light & shadow

Contrast is part of the subject. Darkness isn’t just background; it shapes what gets revealed.

02

Emotion over perfection

Brush marks, unfinished edges, and expressive decisions are part of the work rather than things to hide.

03

Always evolving

Painting, drawing, watercolor, studies, figures, still life — the medium follows the idea instead of the other way around.

The studio

Process is part of the art.

The feed doesn’t just show finished work — it shows the piece on the easel, the sketch before the painting, experiments that work, and experiments that don’t. That evolving process is part of The Light Between.

“The work can be dark without being bleak, beautiful without being tidy, and finished without feeling completely resolved.”
